Notifications and reminders in the Bearish OS Messaging Center are essential tools for staying on top of important conversations and tasks. This guide will walk you through how to manage them effectively.

1. Understanding Notifications

Notifications alert you to new messages, mentions, and important updates within the Messaging Center.

  • Types of Notifications:
    • Message Notifications: Alerts for new incoming messages.
    • Mentions Notifications: When someone @mentions you in a conversation or channel.
    • Task Notifications: If a message includes an action item or task assigned to you.
    • Event Reminders: Alerts for upcoming meetings, deadlines, or events related to a conversation.

2. Customizing Notification Settings

You can tailor your notifications to fit your preferences, ensuring you're only alerted about what matters most.

  • Access Notification Settings:

    1. Navigate to the Settings section within the Messaging Center.
    2. Go to Notification Preferences.
  • Customize by Conversation Type:

    • One-on-One Chats: Choose to receive notifications for every message or only when you're mentioned.
    • Group Chats: Enable or mute notifications depending on the importance of the conversation.
    • Channels: You can receive notifications for all messages, only mentions, or turn them off completely.
  • Global Notification Settings:

    • Do Not Disturb (DND) Mode: Mute all notifications for a set period when you need focus time.
    • Snooze Notifications: Temporarily silence notifications for specific chats or channels.

3. Managing Reminders

Reminders help you stay organized by alerting you to follow up on specific messages or tasks within conversations.

  • Setting a Reminder for a Message:

    1. Right-click or tap the three-dot menu next to a message.
    2. Select Set Reminder and choose when you want to be reminded.
    3. You'll receive a notification at the selected time.
  • Snoozing Reminders:

    • You can snooze reminders for later attention if you're not ready to take action immediately.

4. Snooze and Mark as Done

These features help you organize your messages and tasks more efficiently.

  • Snooze Messages for Later:

    • Choose to snooze any message that requires later attention. The message will reappear in your notifications after the snooze period.
  • Mark Messages as Done:

    • Once you've addressed a message, you can mark it as complete. This will remove it from your active notifications and place it in the Done section.

5. Integrating Notifications with Other Centers

Bearish OS’s Messaging Center works seamlessly with other centers like Calendar and Tasks, allowing you to manage notifications across the entire platform.

  • Event Reminders: Automatically receive notifications for meetings, tasks, and deadlines linked from the Calendar Center.
  • Task Alerts: Notifications will keep you updated on any tasks assigned through the Workspace or Projects Centers.

6. Turning Off Notifications for Specific Conversations

If you no longer want to receive alerts from certain chats or channels, you can mute them.

  • Muting Conversations:
    1. Right-click or tap the three-dot menu next to the chat or channel name.
    2. Select Mute to stop receiving notifications for that conversation.

With these notification and reminder tools, you'll stay organized and never miss important updates or tasks within the Messaging Center.
